April 28, 2000, 10:17 am     Friday night, got tears in my eyes...

Oni

Oni Central's got news of a nice little PS2 preview for Oni. Good to see!

Pathways Into Darkness

A mystery nobody ever noticed before! Wow. There's gold in them thar hills.

Halo

Help, finally, for those suffering from SETI psychosis!

April 28, 2000, 2:07 am     BoomBoomBoomBoom Marathon...

Marathon

Orbital Arm posts updates about Trojan for M2/Win, a Big House inmate... and makes a request.

The Big House is also home to Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge... as some 3500 of you seem to already know. bungie.org has served over 40 gigs worth of this scenario in the past 4 days... a new record for us. By a long shot. If you're enjoying it... let us know!

New maps at the Archives... have we no common sense? (We just regained a bit of our bandwidth...)

The best Bungie game ever made? The Story page has the lowdown...

Aleph One plows on to version 0.10 (that's zero point ten, not zero point one zero), with some cool XML stuff, and Steve Israelson pops back on the scene... you gotta go to the Source!

Pathways Into Darkness

What does Firesign Theatre have to do with Stanley Kubrick? Only the dead know.

Myth

You've got about 61 hours before the Mill Contest ends... are you ready?

Pathways Into Darkness

Undocumented features? Bungie? No way.

April 26, 2000, 9:57 am     Careless? Us? NEVER!

Seems we missed a ton of news in our roundup last night. Guess we're gonna try and atone for that now.

Marathon

Marathon's Story page comes back from its Easter break with guns blazing. New trash term speculation, new Iain Banks info, more of those pesky sevens, and hey-maybe Bungie wants to hire poena.dare?

Over at the Source, you got a new saved game editor, more artwork, and news of a mailing list switch. Oh, yeah, and Marathon's been updated to support T&L. Oh, wait, I'm mixing up my Marathon and Halo news. Never mind.

Gates of Fenris, a Big House inmate, has updated its screenshots section. Couple of new monster shots... I LIKE that Swarm one.

Myth

Myth@Bungie.org has news of a new total conversion... take a look, if the standard fare is getting stale for you!

Pathways Into Darkness

More ways to cheat. Hehe.

April 26, 2000, 12:57 am     Ooh... that feels better

Now that we can breathe again (a few mirrors have been found for Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge, and our network connections aren't stretched to their maxima any more), we can bring you some other news. Oni

Oni Central scored a nice interview with Marty O'Donnell, of Total Audio, about that company's role in the music of Oni. Go read it!

April 24, 2000, 12:47 pm     ActionTrip, eh?

Marathon

Just in case you were feeling like two major scenario releases in two weeks wasn't enough for you... Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge, a total conversion for Marathon Infinity that's been in the works for three years now (and a Big House inmate), has officially been released. 31 or 42 megs (depending on the format you choose to download) of pulse-pounding pleasure is yours for the snagging... if you can get to it. (Anyone willing to mirror this puppy... SEND US MAIL!) Trust me... this one's worth it.

Just in time for Easter... Easter Eggs! (Well, one, anyway.)

April 21, 2000, 10:17 pm     The storm's a'coming!
bungie.org

Just as a quick note of explanation... we're in the middle of a pretty bad lightning storm here in the northeast. It killed most of b.org's connectivity for a couple of hours this evening... thanks to the local telco, though, the line's back up now. No guarantee there won't be glitches through the night... just wanted to warn everyone. You do everything you can to make sure your power doesn't go out... and the dang phone line gets hit by lightning! You can't win.

April 21, 2000, 7:07 pm     Uh, uh, uh, uh, stayin' alive...
Marathon

Marathon

Source says... grab that new copy of Aleph One!

Pepper spray didn't stop that Scenario News guy from telling us about The Scenario That Must Not Be Named...

Marathon

Marathon contest: Simplici7y

Bungie.org is pleased to announce perhaps the coolest Marathon map making competition to date - Simplici7y. It's quite "simple," you must create a level for Marathon 2 / Marathon Infinity that uses exactly seven polygons. No more, no less. Hey, you, in the back, quit your whining; some of the best maps we've played use fewer polygons than that. The idea here is to encourage creativity, so be original. The best maps can win some really cool prizes, including a grand prize of a sealed Marathon Trilogy Box Set, and a copy of Super Marathon for the Pippen! And even if you don't win all that neat stuff, you could be one of six runners up to receive a stylin' Oni mousepad.

All the information, including a full list of contest rules, judges for the contest, and a full list of prizes, can be found at the Simplici7y contest page:

http://hotline.bungie.org

Head on over there right now and soak up all the information. Remember, making a seven-poly map takes hardly any time and effort. Making it good, now there's the challenge. Are you up to it?
