July 25, 2000, 8:41 pm

A quick update on several of our sites: Bungie Sightings, the download area of Oni Central, and OrbitalArm are all offline for the next 48 hours or so, as the machines they reside on are moved to a new address. We'll get these back up as soon as we can... apologies for the inconvenience.

July 25, 2000, 2:20 pm

Whoa... we go to New York for a week, and forget to update the page! Shame on us. Well, there's a bunch of MacWorld stuff that can be found on our MacWorld NY 2000 page, including a new Bungie FanFest page. Bungie Sightings will be going down for a day or so while the machine it's on moves to a new location... but should have a large update by the end of the week. A nice summary (and some other pics) can be found on the Marathon's Story page. Back to normal tomorrow!

Halo

Even when b.org sleeps, HBO is open. Lots of cool news, including a funny little movie and brand new Craig Mullins artwork. Check it out!

July 18, 2000, 11:21 pm

MacWorld is upon us! Surprisingly enough, a huge number of b.org personnel are in New York for this event... which means that most pages will be sparsely updated over the next few days. However... we're going to do our best to bring you all the goodies from the show floor, and from off the floor (in backrooms, and at restaurants, andfrom the fanfest). The place to go for all this stuff is our MacWorld NY 2000 page. Check it out!

July 18, 2000, 5:57 am

From 7 pm EST on Saturday, July 15 through 11 am EST Monday, July 17, bungie.org was more down than up, due to a severe storm in southern Connecticut. Two repeaters and a large quantity of underground cable later, we're back up and running... and we apologize heartily for the downtime.

Marathon

The Marathon's Story page never slowed down during our outage... you'll find updates about the Seven Words caption competition (now closed... results will be announced on Friday), lame stickers (available at Macworld, for the price of a kiss... rumor has it Mike will be nude, as well), and news of a Win95 Marathon2 site.

OrbitalArm has updated its html to be faster-loading and link-friendlier. Swing on by for Win95 info!

Scenarionews will be going dormant for the week, since both maintainers will be at MacWorld... but if big news happens, they'll probably find a way to post it. They're like that.

The Vidmaster page has been updated... for the first time in... wow, a long time. Stop by and see John Sumner finish All Roads Lead to Sol with no ammo.

Many people have been e-mailing bungie.org staff, posting at forums and coming on to the Hotline server and IRC channel asking why bungie.net is down.

The reason for this is that Bungie is moving to Redmond right now, and with them went the servers. We don't know when they will be back online, but we'll let you know as soon as they are.

Max Hobermann, Bungie's webmaster, posted the following at bungie.net:

We're tentatively planning on moving the web and gaming servers to Redmond this weekend. This means that if all goes well we'll shut them down Friday morning, ship 'em in cold storage, thaw them out and set them up again early next week. However, there are a lot of technical and ISP issues with this move, and I can't promise specific dates or times.

Sometime before we're back up we'll release a preferences patch via this web site that will allow the game clients to communicate with the relocated servers.

Finally, although we're relocating the Myth and Myth II gaming servers, we will no longer be maintaining the Myth II demo server. Sorry.
