Sorry for the delay... I've finally managed to put together some of the 100+ pics I took over the week; you can find them on this FanFest page. Enjoy!

Yipes, what a night. The fanfest rocked, and it was an honour to meet Alex S., Max and Matt from Bungie. Man, I wish I could do this every year. Thanks to all that came, it was fun playing net 'thon, it was fun laughing at the Halo Whazzup movie with you. Wow. I won't sleep all night :)

Fanfest UPDATE!

Hamish and I spent a few hours tonight adding the latest goodies to the fanfest site. You can check it all out here:

"Come on, someone update the page!" "OK!"

halo.bungie.org is currently down, as is our mail server... don't fret though as Claude (and Mrs. Claude) are on the case and it should all be back up before days end.

As for other news, a whole bunch of B.org'ers and Myth players got together for some fine Italian food at Don Giovanni. I think we numbered close to 20 strapping young men! :) Final bill? About $400!!! Wowzers!

Afterwards we took a walk and passed by the main New York Library (you know, the one with the 2 lions!) on our way to the Empire State Building (you know, the one King Kong climbed!). Getting around 20 folks to all get in took some scrambling, but we did it and our foreign friends (who are we kidding, they're TOURISTS! :) had a grand old time.

We started to disperse, til at the end we numbered only 7(!!!). I offered them all a ride in my car to multiple destinations. Unfortunately, my car is a tiny Honda Civic! Yes, we have pictures of the mayhem that occurred in the back seats! Poor Harry cracked a few ribs, methinks :)

All in all, I must say, I am having a blast. There are still some folks that are looking at the Bungie/MS/Apple announcement as a 'glass is half empty' situation, but I like it, since it is certainly an improvement from where we were since news of the acquisition first surfaced. And I also don't like rain on my parade, knowwhuddamean?

So now we prepare for the fest in earnest. Remember, it will take place Friday, from 4pm to 8pm. Please understand, you will be turned away if you're too early. Details can be found here and you can still post questions, RSVP's here.

If you noticed, Bungie's news page has been updated. Too lazy to click? Here's a copy:

Halo for the Mac [7/19]

We've moved to Redmond, and our web and gaming servers are back online. Hot on the heels of this good news comes a second announcement: early this morning Steve Jobs and Alexander Seropian announced plans to bring Halo to the Mac! We'll have more details on this announcement after the conclusion of the MacWorld Expo. For now, rejoice, and if you're going to be in New York this Friday be sure to stop by Freewill's FanFest, which we'll be attending. See ya there!

So yes, expect more details right after the fanfest.

Signing off...

The first day of MWNY held some great news for Bungie fans... but b.org personnel spent more time getting to know each other than dwelling on news. Take a look at our Day 1 coverage! (There should be more coming for Oni Central, as well... check it out later today!

Coverage of the keynote, including the Halo announcement, is available at Mac OS Rumors.
The juicy part:
Bungie and Microsoft reps came up on stage to announce that not only will Bungie's Halo come out for the Mac, but Microsoft is working to port all of its games to the platform!

HALO FOR MAC

Why did we ever doubt them? They had us going for a ride, and now we can go back to getting psyched for what is going to be the best game EVER.

Damn, Miguel beat me to it! Anyhow, tomorrow is my first day on the showfloor. I'll be hanging out at the Gathering of Developers booth. I'll update Oni Central from the floor if I can, if not I will do it later in the evening.

First post!

Hamish and I are settling in for a good night's rest and tomorrow's keynote is buzzing in our heads. We were invited to an AAPL investor's dinner which was alot of fun. (Thanks Ron!) We also had to finalize a few things re: the fanfest and got to actually talk with the head of Bungie Studios, Alex Seropian. Using my New Yawk skillz, I got his credit card in my pocket. Expect some hookers and free beer at the fanfest! Chow!

Seriously, we were unable to secure the Surround Sound speaker setup, so we'll have to settle for standard Stereo when we show the Halo video. Them's the breaks.
