MPEG versions of Fanfest movies (Claude | May 24, 2001 2:49 AM PDT)
Thanks again to Harry Al-Shakarchi, who dug up two selfless groups (thanks, guys! willing to mirror the (much larger) MPEG versions of the Fanfest movies. There is no new information here - the advantage of the MPEG format is its scaleability. These look much better when the window size is doubled than the QuickTime versions do. The price you pay, of course, is size - these weigh in at 200 mb, 20 mb, and 90 mb, respectively. (Thanks, of course, to Freewill, for making these in the first place. :) ) If you NEED the larger window, and your pipe can handle it, grab these.

Myth III Goodness (Claude | May 22, 2001 4:43 PM PDT)
Freewill strikes again! has posted Free's thoughts about Myth III and the GoD Games enclave (separate from the rest of the Expo, complete with free beer, nearly naked women, and singing dwarves). Some nice photos in there, as well. (No naked women, though.) Check it out!

Fanfest/E3 Report from Free (Claude | May 22, 2001 8:09 AM PDT)
Patience is rewarded with sweet fulfillment. Freewill has compiled his thoughts and notes and pictures into a very readable Fanfest/E3 report - check out the Fanfest V page for all the details!

Trivia Contest - Ready to Play? (Claude | May 22, 2001 2:20 AM PDT)
Apologies for the long delay in posting here. There is still a mountain of new material coming from Freewill - it's just a matter of finding the time to put it all together. (He's working on it as I write this, which is rather insane, given that it's 5:15 am where he lives.) I wrote up a short gameplay commentary for HBO yesterday - you can read it here. And while you wait for the REST of the story, you can jump in and try your hand at Bungie's Trivia Contest, 2nd Edition. Enjoy!

Day 2 roundup (Claude | May 18, 2001 12:54 AM PDT)
Well, our plans of bringing you from-the-floor updates were dashed by the amazingly unconnected Convention Center... but better late than never, right? Bungie had a sizeable presence in the huge Microsoft section - 6 solo player rigs and 2 four-player split-screen multiplayer boxes (playing each other in CTF), with huge numbers of fans cycling through and getting a taste. Stability was good - there were no hard crashes, though an odd bug turned up in the build in use; 3 or 4 times over the course of the day, a player would jump into a jeep, and get stuck. The camera could be rotated, but the player couldn't drive, or shoot, or get out - the box would need to be rebooted. Always nice to get a few hundred beta testers to run through your latest build, to find new stuff to fix! The team is very confident that they'll be ready for the November 8 Xbox release.

We also visited the GoD Games area, and got a sneak peek at Myth III: The Wolf Age, in development and expected by year's end. I'm going to leave the details to Freewill, since it was he who got us in the door... but I'll tell you that the game looks great, the team is focused, and Mumbo Jumbo's gonna make Mythers a happy bunch.

Below you'll find pics of a monster we found next to the Bungie game boxes, an upcoming promo poster for Myth III, some Myth fanatics enjoying the weather. We also snagged a large Xbox banner hanging in a Convention Center hallway.

We also grabbed a few more Halo screens for your viewing pleasure - take a look.

There should be more coming soon! (Freewill is currently rubbing elbows with Britney Spears at an Xbox party, but when he comes to his senses, he'll be back here, bringing you Myth III tastiness and other fun stuff.)
